Welcome to the AAPM Awards and Honors Nomination System!


The 2025 Awards and Honors Nomination System will be open from January 1 - February 26, 2025

 

Please note the following:

  • All nominations must be submitted electronically through this website. Materials supporting the nomination that are submitted outside of this web-based application system will not be taken into consideration.
  • The deadline for 2025 nominations is February 26, 2025. Any submissions not completed before the deadline will be removed from consideration for the current review year.
  • The Awards and Honors Committee will NOT consider self-nominations.
  • The nomination system exclusively accepts file uploads in PDF format.
  • System-generated emails will originate from noreply@secure-platform.com. Please notify the nominee, and for Fellow and Laughlin nominations, inform any supporters accordingly.
  • Decision notifications will be sent shortly after the Board of Directors Meeting on April 24, 2025
  • Recipients will be recognized at the AAPM Awards and Honors Ceremony and Reception during the 67th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Washington, DC, in 2025.
  • It's important to note that individuals currently serving as members on the AAPM Awards and Honors Committee are not eligible for nomination or to act as supporters in any capacity.

William D. Coolidge Gold Medal »

This award recognizes an AAPM member for an eminent career in medical physics. It is the highest honor given by AAPM.

Edith H. Quimby Lifetime Achievement Award » 

This award recognizes AAPM members whose careers have been notable based on their outstanding achievements.

Marvin M.D. Williams Professional Achievement Award » 

This award recognizes an AAPM member for an eminent career in medical physics with an emphasis on clinical medical physics.

AAPM Fellow » 

The category of Fellow is established to honor members who have made significant contributions through one or more of the following:

  • Service to AAPM.
  • The advancement of medical physics knowledge based upon independent original research or development.
  • Medical physics educational activities, especially in regard to the education and training of medical physicists, medical students, medical residents, and allied health personnel.
  • Leadership in the practice of medical physics.

John Laughlin Early-Career Scientist Award » 

This award recognizes outstanding scientific achievement in medical physics for an early-career scientist member of AAPM. The award will be given to a member who has been engaged in a medical physics career for fewer than 10 years on December 31 of the year of nomination and who has been an AAPM member (Associate, Associate-Student, or Full) for at least five years. For the purpose of this award, post-doctoral positions will be considered as engagement in a medical physics career, as will research years as part of a residency.

Honorary Membership » 

Honorary membership into AAPM is bestowed upon individuals to recognize distinguished service that they have done in other societies that support medical physics. Thus the award not only honors the individual but also strengthens the links between AAPM and the other society.
