The AAPM Sexual and Gender Minority Subcommittee (SGMSC) Trainee Travel Award

 

This award celebrates medical physics students and trainees who promote a culture of respect, understanding, and belonging. It acknowledges individuals whose work helps ensure that sexual and gender diverse communities are welcomed and valued within medical physics.

The award provides up to $2,000 to help cover expenses related to attendance at the AAPM Annual Meeting, including travel, lodging, and registration.

Award Criteria:

Applicants must submit the following: 

  • Completed attestation form confirming active enrollment and clearance to attend the 2026 Joint AAPM | Comp Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
  • A personal statement and CV describing their research, education, service, or professional motivations for attending the Annual Meeting.
  • A letter of support from a program mentor, supervisor, or AAPM mentor who can speak to the applicant’s academic or professional strengths, character skills, and their efforts to support equity and inclusion for sexual and gender minority communities.

This merit-based grant will be awarded to a student, resident, or postdoctoral trainee who is committed to equity and inclusion, whether through experiences, learning or personal values, and is eager to develop further skills in this area.

Eligibility:
  • Must be a member of AAPM in good standing at the time of application. Pending membership status is not acceptable. If you are not yet an AAPM member, consider applying now to be eligible for the fellowship (this process can take 2 - 4 weeks to complete).
  • Active enrollment in a graduate program in medical physics, certificate program in medical physics, or medical physics residency.
  • Previous recipients are not eligible to apply again.
