2025 AAPM Advocacy Day Travel Award

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, AAPM will be conducting its inaugural AAPM Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, to immediately follow AAPM’ s Annual Meeting 2025 in Washington, DC (July 27 – 30). Few policymakers are aware of medical physicists and the crucial role they play in our healthcare ecosystem. Without our members’ input, laws and regulations that would improve patient health outcomes, advance research, and remove barriers for the medical physics community are less likely to be enacted. Let your voice be heard!

This is an exceptional in-person opportunity for AAPM members interested in supporting AAPM’s advocacy agenda, primarily for expanding awareness of medical physics, enhancing policies to support the medical physicist workforce and education opportunities, and to highlight the need for investing in science research. Advocacy Day participants will be formed into teams and meet directly with congressional offices on the Hill, fostering important relationships between the AAPM membership and key government policymakers.

If selected, Travel Award Recipients:

  • will receive financial support up to $3000 for travel to Washington, DC and for 2 nights of hotel stay (3 night can be considered, if needed)
  • will be required to be in Washington, DC on Wednesday, July 30 and Thursday, July 31
